20th day

I don't know what happened to my other blog, because I did do it. I have never missed a day. But anyway here goes again, on Mon. I was in the pod by myself, because everyone else was in another pod., so I was a bit lonely. I passed off my anterior PE, but I would feel a little more comfortable with it when I can practice some more. Next time we will be doing selective polishing, and I will get to practice that.

21 day of clinic

Today we worked on selective polishing, floshing and flouride application. It was fun, and I really liked today. I felt better because I knew a little more what I was doing, and it was easier, and a lot more fun. Today I also passed off the Intra-oral camera PE, which was pretty easy. I would like to work on my scaling a little better however.

19th day

Yeah! I passed off 2 PE's today. That makes me feel a lot better to get those done. I am still having a little difficulty deciphering bewteeen the universal and area-specific. I know the exact properties of each, its just holding up the instrument and actually picking it out.

Today we practiced posterior scaling with the curet. It was pretty interesting. I realized that the terminal shank has to change with the ling angle of the tooth, meaning I need to change the terminal shank and treat the tooth like a candy corn.

I think I will take some intstruments home to practice some more to make sure I have it down.

18th day

Today was pretty good I guess for a Monday. We worked on our scaling some more today so we could practice and feel better about scaling the anterior teeth. I feel fairly good about it, I am just having some problems rolling my instrument the right amount. I think that I will need to practice this some more, like I did the explorer so that I can feel better about my skills. I hope that everything in my head will stick, because I feel like I have a ton to remember.

17 th day

So today was the ALL IMPORTANT DAY!!!

TODAY WAS THE DAY WE GOT TO HOLD A SCALER IN OUR HANDS AND ACTUALLY USE IT a little!!!!

It was pretty fun, but totally different than holding the explorer and using it subgingivally. I was able to go slightly under the gums, but not too far, because we used the nebraska, and you can't go very far subgingivally with it, like you can with a lot of other scalers, and the probe.

I passed off the probe today, and it was slightly nerve wracking, because after using the scaler, I had a very tight grip on the instrument in order to use it, and so it interfered with using the probe. I had to remember to slow down, calm down, and relax.

16th day

Today we covered a lot of what it will really be like to start from the begining to get to somewhat of the middle. I passed off the exploration PE, and next time I hope to pass off the probing PE, I think it will work out pretty good. We learned about a lot of the instruments we have in our issue, and some of the differences between the shank, and complexity. I am hoping everything will go well for next time!

13th

13 is usually an unlucky number, but today it was okay. We passed off our intraoral pe, then we practiced charting gingival tissues, and existing restorations, etc. It was a pretty easy-going day. We also went over the things we need to know for the Eaglesoft pe, to refresh some of that in our heads.

There definetly is a ton to remember. I hope I can remember it all!!! :)

12th day

We practiced working on probing today, and it was a lot easier today than it was on Monday. I really wish I could practice even more, so I feel more confident. I know I need to practice exploring a lot more, so I will hopefully I will find some time to do that.
gottsta go so I can chart.

11th clinic day

So we learned how to probe today, and it was fun. It seemed a lot easier to do than exploring was, so I will have to practice using the explorer a little more. I did enjoy probing a little more, it seemed to come a little easier than exploring did. I just hope I didn't harm my lab partner too much.

I passed off the fulcrum PE, and I need to remember to stay up on my fulcrum more I think, I have a hard time remembering to keep it lateral along with the tooth. I think that I make things harder than they are because I get so nervous, so if I calm down a little, I will be fine. I HOPE!

Gottsta go!
